Aside interpreting roles on stage and screen, some Nollywood actresses have taken making a living off selling beauty products. They have managed to turn their passion for looking good into a money-making business.
Fathia Williams Balogun
IN June, the actress, producer and mother of two introduced ‘The House of Faiteer’, a range of bodycare, cosmetics and organic products. “It works like magic, we give you value for your money,” Fathia who concluded her third English production at that period said.
On why she started the business, Fathia stated, “The beauty range is as a result of always wanting to look good. Another secret is the love for herbal products which is all natural; I have been using them over the years.
“I have been selling out these products, before the recent official launching. I do all the mixing myself, but I have people who also work with me and help with the packaging and delivering.
My client cut across, the beauty products are for the general public. It is not meant for the high in society, anybody who show shows interest only need to get across to us and we deliver.”
Mercy Aigbe
ANOTHER Nollywood player in the beauty product business is Mercy Aigbe who also has a beauty range called ‘Flawless’.
“For a Flawlessly beautiful skin then you need to use my products,” the actress and producer claimed at the launch.
The range of beauty products is produced to treat skin troubles likes dark spots, stubborn knuckles, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, patches, acne, pimples, blackheads and other skin challenges. She also has products for lighten up skin, maintenance skin cream, herbal products for your babies.
“My client cut across all ages, from kids, young and old, who are conscious about their skin care and looking good.”
To further promote her services, the actress also includes the services of a skin specialist available at client’s demands. “What really motivated me in putting my passion into this new cause is because I am super conscious about how I look and my skin especially. Looking good is not all about what we eat alone, but also what we use on our body.
“Clients who have used the products have continued to send in testimonies, because all products are naturally made from pure herbals. The products are result of fans asking secrets of my flawless skin. A lot of people ask me what I use on my skin to make it look younger and beautiful, now I am sharing my secret with the world by presenting ‘Flawless’”.
Iyabo Ojo
ANOTHER actress, who seems to be thriving well in the beauty business, is Yoruba actress Iyabo Ojo who came out with Fespris World, but added another few months after, making it two within few months of venturing into the business.
It is also reported that the actress has added Sliming pills, Breast enlarging cream, Hip up butt enlarging cream, and Tightening liquid for ladies. The introduction as reported is as a result of the demand for having bigger boobs and butt, a fad of the moment.
Mosun Filani
ACTRESS Mosun Filani, who seems to have settled down with her hubby in Osogbo and put on hold her acting career, has also revealed that she is making more money from ‘Beauty & Brain,’ her hair and skin care business.
The mother of two takes time out on her social page to show off her busy schedule to show her commitment in making people beautiful as well her the orders she gets from home and abroad.
Pictures and videos of her making braids and Ghana weaves as well as branded skin care ‘beauty and brain’ made from natural ingredients keeps her fan-base engaged.
Ebube Nwagbo
OFF the screen for a while, actress Ebube Nwagbo now deals in human hair brands which she named Posh Hair. The brand is manufactured in America and labeled for Ebube Nwagbo as the franchisee in Nigeria and Africa as a wholesaler.
The Enugu-born actress who shot into prominence in 2005 with the movie, ‘Royal Palace,’ has also gone into hair treatment with a cream which users have testified its efficacy. The hair cream which was launched into the beauty market in Nigeria recently has Ebube’s on the pack.
Monalisa Chinda
MONALISA Chinda, who is currently running a TV talk show, also has a range of beauty products, which she named M-CODE.
Though it was launched in 2013, not much has been heard about the beauty products in recent time.
Before the launch four years ago, the mother of one, who also tried her hands on publishing a magazine revealed that the products was made for both men and women.
“We are starting with the body sprays for men and women, after which other beauty products from my M-CODE stable will be introduced into the market,” Chinda said.
Chinda graduated from University of Port Harcourt with a degree in Theatre Arts. Since her made her debut in 1996, she has featured in several movies.
Nse Ikpe
IN 2016, Nse Ikpe-Etim launched her skin and hair care brand, Eden’s Theory, co-owned by a UK-based company.
The Nollywood actress and producer revealed that the launching of the beauty business came as a result of getting comments about her skin and hair on regular basis.
The actress who also acts as brand ambassador and spokesperson for the UK based company stated, “People always ask about my skin and hair. Many of them assume that I use very expensive products, but I have actually always used natural oils and butters.”
The actress said: “With Eden’s Theory, you get to retain the best bits of African butters while oozing some of your personality into a product of your choice.”
The Eden’s Theory products range from multi-functional hair and body products to skincare and fragrances. The range was one of the finalists at the 2016 Harrow Business Den in the UK.
Oge Okoye
OGE Okoye who is currently making a comeback to the make-believe world after a long hiatus launched a beauty line “Crystal Glam” in 2013.
The actress who posted a series of photos of the products set to hit stores, announced via her official Instagram page that products include foundation, concealer and lip pencils.
