Four policemen attached to Delta State Police Command have been arrested for allegedly killing a man and injuring three others in a shooting at a social event in Warri.
An unidentified person was also injured after the vehicle carrying the victims to hospital knocked him down.
The Nation learnt that the policemen allegedly guarded fraudsters (Yahoo boys) at social events.
Sources said the officers are attached to Warri Area Command Office.
They said the policemen – Inspector Imana Samuel, Inspector Anthony Nwali, Sgt Anthony Oniri and Cpl Innocent Ajah – allegedly escorted the fraudsters to a child dedication at Okumagba Layout.
Police Commissioner Ibrahim Zanna, who confirmed the incident yesterday, ordered the arrest of the officers for alleged professional misconduct and murder.
It was learnt that the victim, Elvis Ovie, a second-hand clothes dealer, died following injuries sustained in the shooting.
His brother, Emma, told reporters the victim attended the child dedication of a customer when the policemen that escorted guests to the ceremony allegedly started shooting, and Elvis was hit a stray bullet.
