Lawmaker’s cousin behind kidnap of 86-yr-old in Delta

OPERATIVES of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two persons for their complicity in the kidnap of the octogenarian mother of a state lawmaker, Preyor Oboro. The kidnap victim, Mrs. Ekpongbolo Preyor, 86, was earlier in the week kidnapped in her Kpakiama residence, Bomadi Local Government Area, by gunmen who stormed her home at 11.00 p.m whisking her away in their speed boats to Bayelsa State. Mr. Preyor Oboro represents Bomadi constituency in the State’s legislature.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zanna, who confirmed the arrest identified the suspects as Theo Preyor,32, and Prince Ali Olubiri,36. One of the suspects, Theo Preyor, is a cousin to the lawmaker. Zanna said the police acting on a tip off arrested the duo who confessed to the crime. According to the commissioner, Preyor accused the lawmaker of not taking care of him, adding that the kidnap was an attempt to get back at the lawmaker. Zanna said Mrs. Ekpongbolo was in good condition, adding that the police have sent a team to Bayelsa State, where the victim was kept pending when ransom would be paid. He said the suspects would be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
