DoxxBet sports betting debut in Lagos

Competition in the local sports betting market is set to intensify with the entry of SportsBox Betting terminal.

The sports betting platform, owned by Sloviakian-based betting firm Doxxbet, yesterday announced it is now available in the Nigerian market.

The Managing Director of Doxxbet Nigeria, Andrej Pavlo said the move was an important milestone for the company’s Africa expansion plan, having used Liberia as the launching pad four years ago.

“We are looking to expand throughout the African continent and it was important that we have a major presence in Nigeria”

“The Nigerian sport-betting market continues to be amongst the fastest growing markets in the world and I believe will give us a solid foundation to expand our African operations after launching in Liberia four years ago.”

Pavlo, who intimated to NationSport that the SportsBox Betting platform will offer punters a self-serving betting terminal which will allow them place bets without any assisance from staffs. 

He noted that these terminals will only accept cash payments and the use of ATM cards is prohibited and the highest amount a punter can win on a single ticket is N5 million.

He also added that the minimum stake is N100 and there is no cap on the maximum amount a punter can stake. 

Doxxbet, which started in Sloviakia over 20 years ago, arrived Nigeria in April, 2017 and already boasts over 25 outlets in Lagos state. There are plans to expand its network to Ogun, Rivers and Abuja once the firm secures a national gaming license. 

The firm also has a mobile gaming application which can be downloaded from www.doxxbet.ng and a strategy is on ground to introduce virtual betting and casinos soon.
