Oyo govt to spend N5.6b on schools

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi has said his administration will spend N5.6 billion to develop school infrastructure in the next 12 months.

The governor assured residents that all public schools will soon wear a new look.

Ajimobi spoke yesterday in Ibarapa at the inauguration of constituency projects facilitated by the federal lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North, Ayoade Ojoawo.

The projects include a block of six classrooms each at Igboora High School, Igboora; Ayelogun Grammar School, Idere; Ayete Grammar School, Ayete; Tapa Community High School, Tapa and Oke Aako High School, Igangan.

Others are: a solar-powered borehole at Koso-Idere, borehole at Post Office Junction at Tapa and solar-powered street lights at Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North.

Ajimobi, who was represented by Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela, said his administration’s resolve to make education a collective responsibility was yielding result.

The governor noted that school projects are getting assistance from federal lawmakers as well as school governing boards.

He said: “This is a demonstration of what government is preaching, especially by the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led government, that education is now a collective responsibility.”
