Nollywood actress, Remi Oshodi, widely known as Remi Surutu, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to always lend a helping hand to the needy.
Speaking with The Nation, the actress revealed that she grew up in a home where she was given everything, but she however has developed a soft spot for those who cannot afford their basic needs.
The recently-bereaved actress also spoke on her last moments with her late daughter, Elizabeth Ayomikun, saying that despite being in distress herself, she was paying other patients’ medical bills.
“When my daughter was very ill in the hospital in LASU, there were so many doctors there who can attest to the fact that I was paying other patients’ bills while I had mine down there, because I saw that they couldn’t afford it and I had to support in the little way that I could.
“Even when I knew I was going to lose my child, I was still supporting some people. I was still buying drugs; I was still giving people money for dialysis. Some were discharged and couldn’t pay their bills and I paid. She (daughter) was encouraging me to go ahead to start helping people.
“That is how life is supposed to be. I lived a luxury life as a child and I feel for those who could not afford it, so I support them in my own way,” she said.
On the need to immortalise her daughter, the actress, in tears, revealed that she will be setting up an NGO because the late Elizabeth was always willing to impact people’s lives.
About three months ago, the news of the death of the death of the actress’ beautiful daughter was reported by Yomi Fabiyi, a Nollywood actor who was also a close friend of the friend of the deceased.
