The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo said it arrested 12 suspects between July and September.
Mr Makinde Ayinla, state commandant, spoke yesterday in Benin, while briefing reporters on achievements of the command.
Ayinla said they were arrested for offences, such as fraud, illegal oil bunkering, rape, illegal mining and cultivation of cannabis, among others.
According to him, two suspects were arrested for stealing, two for illegal mining, three for rape, four for suspected cannabis cultivation and one for fraud.
He added that the rape suspects, allegedly defiled a 14 year-old SSS 1 student.
Ayinla added that the other suspect allegedly defrauded his victims of N4.5 million.
The commandant noted that the command prosecuted and secured two convictions within the period.
He said some suspects would be handed over to security agencies for further investigation, and assured residents of security as Yuletide approaches.
Some told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that they were guilty, but pleaded for mercy.
