Volleyball Nations Cup: Nigeria bows out of competition

Nigeria’s men national volleyball team has been knocked out of the 2017 Men’s African Nations championship after losing 3-0 to Cameroon in their second Pool C match decided at the Cairo Stadium Complex in Egypt on Wednesday.

The 2017 Men’s African championship doubles also as 2018 World Championship qualifiers where the top three African teams book their tickets to represent Africa in the FIVB Prestigious championship which holds in Japan.

Team Nigeria who had lost 1-3 to Morocco in their first match on Tuesday also succumbed to the firepower of their West Africa counterparts 26-24, 25-20, 25-19 on Wednesday Cameroon and Morocco have now qualified for the Quarterfinal of the competition alongside 

Egypt, Tunisia, Rwanda, Algeria, Congo and Libya.

In Thursday’s quarter final fixtures, Algeria will take on Congo RDC, Tunisia will play Morocco, Cameroon  will slug it out with Libya, while host nation Egypt will entertain Rwanda.

Nigeria will however face Kenya, while Niger will slug it out with Chad in classification play-off 9-14 also on Thursday.
