There was impressive turnout yesterday at the Kwaa State local government election.
The election was generally peaceful as residents conducted themselves in orderly manner and complied with the no- movement order.
However, pockets of skirmishes initially characterised the exercise in some polling units visited in Ilorin, the state capital.
In some poling units in Ilorin West, voters complained of availability of result sheets and vowed not to go on with the election unless the sheets were provided.
Senate President Bukola Saraki, who cast his vote at Opobiyi, Agbaji polling centre in Ilorin West local government area at about 12.47pm, expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of voters for the election.
He was particularly impressed by the peaceful atmosphere under which the election was conducted.
He hailed residents of the state for their orderliness and for maintaining peace, before and during the poll.
He expressed confidence that APC will emerge victorious in the council poll, stating the incoming council chairmen would strive to meet their expectations.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who also cast his vote at Aponbiepo polling centre, Share in Ifelodun local government area of the state, also expressed satisfaction with security reports on the election, saying he was being briefed constantly on developments.
