Police begin stop-and-search

Zamfara State Command has begun a ‘stop-and-search’ to curb crimes, Police Commissioner Kenneth Ebrimson told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau.

He was posted to the state from the Force Headquarters three days after gunmen attacked communities in Shinkafi and Maradun local governments.

Ebrimson said: “I assure people that the days of pampering these bandits are over.

“They should either surrender or relocate because we will take severe and drastic actions against them.

“I am aware of forms of criminal brigandage, including kidnapping, cattle rustling, robbery and faceless gunmen attacks, which have denied the people peace.

“This peace will soon return and people will sleep with their two eyes closed.”

He said the command had begun robust crime-fighting through the use of special units and patrols, including the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU).
