THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied issuing a bench warrant for the arrest of the fugitive former chairman of the Presidential Pension  Reform Task Force (PRTT) Dr. AbdulRasheed Maina.

The EFCC in an affidavit deposed to by one Yunisa Musa, who is the litigation officer In the legal and prosecution department of the anti-graft agency, described as false claims by Maina that a bench warrant for his arrest has been issued by the commission.

Maina had in a written address in support of a summon he filed at the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on Wednesday is seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC from arresting him.

But the EFCC, in the counter-affidavit, described Maina’s claims as false, saying it did not issue a bench warrant against or for his arrest.

The anti-graft agency countered that it would be in the interest of justice for the court not to grant a perpetual order restraining it from carrying out its lawful duties.
