Residents plead with Oyo Govt over flooding

Flooding

Residents of Ifedolapo Community, Adetokun  Eleyele in Ibadan, Oyo State  have cried out over flooding of the area due to rainfall on Tuesday which led to the loss of properties and collapse of buildings.

The Chairman of the community, Mr Adeyemi Odefemi said the rain wreaked havoc in our community  with the road overtaken by flood.

“I was on my way home when it started raining.  I could not have access to the road we ply because of the heavy impact the rain on the community. I had to access another road but to my utmost surprise, different fences have been pulled down due to the heavy flow of the water.

“We plead to the Oyo state government and also to the commissioner for Works.

“Our community is at the verge of destruction. We have taken different steps as regard this same problem but our entire plea have all been in vain. We really call for the intervention of the state Government so that we can all be at peace in our community,” Odefemi stated.

One of the affected victim, Mr Tunde Ajao, said the rain pulled down the fence of his house and destroyed properties.

“We plead to the Oyo state Government to make amends to our community and help our drainage system before next year so that it would not be more than this when the raining season comes.”
