Ali Baba, others for Thinkation

Comedian Ali Baba and former Ghanaian president Jerry Rawlings, Kwara State first lady Omolewa Ahmed and Ini Abimbola are among those to lecture at Thinkation which holds today at Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Thinkation, derived from the words ‘Thinking’ and ‘Education’, is a brainchild of The Ubong King Foundation to instill a new mindset for youths according to the convener.

While speaking at a press briefing, Ali Baba charged youths to go through the thinking process in order to reach a desired result. He further disclosed that the entertainers play a role in creating employing and developing the society.

“For those of us in the entertainment, when you have a show, you need graphic artist, stage management, photography, fashion,” said the ace comedian.

“No radio stations will be on air if you take out entertainment. There is no big artiste that doesn’t have a lawyer which puts lawyers in business likewise security companies. Right now, it is not about the degree that you have but the services that you render. The money entertainment makes can also go back to developing the society, creating jobs, venue rentals. So entertainment can diversify.”

The convener, Ubong King, disclosed that, “Thinkation is not one of those conferences or gathering where people come to discuss the problems of Nigeria. That Nigeria has a problem is already visible to the blind. We have over-emphasized on the problems. It is time to change the narratives. Thinkation 2018 has come to set the paradigm and to drive solution-oriented conversations.

“A lot of them are coming with questions begging for answers and I can assure you that there is no better meeting where the question of self realization and economic liberation will be like Thinkation.

“The Ubong Foundation hopes to help Africans from all works of life by nurturing their minds and thoughts processes.

“For us it is important to have the productive population of a nation to be well-groomed mentally to the point where they desire to exceed the status quo that prevail in their surroundings,” said Ubong King.
