The Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Apostle Oloruntoba Oke has said government would deal decisively with anyone who tried to foment trouble or stop work on the proposed Agege Bus Terminal, on which work will begin on Monday.
He spoke yesterday on the heels of threats by hoodlums to prevent the contractor from gaining access to the site and prevent commercial bus operators who have been ordered to move, from accessing the relief road created for them.
The Iju garage, near Pen Cinema, in Ifako Ijaiye, has been earmarked for the construction of the new terminal, which the Lagos State government has assured, would be delivered in June.
The terminal is one of the four, recently approved by the government with the three others at; Ojota, NAHCO, on Murtala Mohammed Airport road, and Ajah, on Lekki-Ajah expressway.
Oke, also directed security operatives in the council to apprehend anyone found dumping refuse on road medians, junctions and other public places within the local council area.
Speaking to religious/community leaders, traders and representatives of all Community Development Associations (CDAs) and monarchs and chiefs at a stakeholders meeting at Iju, Oke urged all residents to cooperate with the government to bring development closer to the grassroots.
He said the modern terminal will further improve the living conditions of residents as it will make public transportation more accessible to the people of the area.
He said within the period of construction, adequate provisions have been made for those trading within the garage to make use of Ibari, which is the adjoining street, while all commercial bus operators would either make use of the road or park temporarily within the same street.
