Speaking at a press briefing which was held today in General Hospital, Marina, Lagos, the District Rotary International Governor, District 9110, Rotarian Dr. Adewale Ogunbadejo pointed out that people tend to take for granted the access we have to eye care treatment whenever we need but to the indigent masses poor vision is a common problem, hence the reason why Rotary Club is partnering with Indo Eye Care Foundation to put slime on the
faces of the less privilege in the society.

According to Ogunbadejo the theme for the year, “Mission for Vision 207-2018” is all encompassing as it is all out to provide free surgical operation for people especially children.

In an interview with some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Olubunmi Popoola, mother of an Eight month old baby whose defect was from birth could not hide her joy. Her words “Brainard’s eyedefect was from birth and we’ve been going around looking for help until we came across Indo Eye Care Foundation and thank God Brainard could see”.

Other parents whose children benefited from the free eye Surgery also appreciated the group for their efforts.

Speaking on why the group is focusing more on children, a member of Indo eye Care Foundation, Atul Kshetry, said giving new eyesight to a 70 year old man, he will see for the next 10-15 years, but giving eye to a 5-10 year old child and he/she will see for the next 80 years or more.

The Indo Eye Care Foundation, in cooperation with the Indian Diaspora and the Rotary Club of Lagos-Palmgrove Estate, has started work on the construction of a charitable eye hospital in Lagos, it is expected to be completed by the end of year 2018.

We tend to take for granted the access we have to sophisticated eye care treatment whenever we need. In many remote areas of Nigeria, eye care is non existent and poor vision is a common problem, particularly among the poor. The Indo Nigerian Eye-Care Foundation conducts periodic camps for cataract removal surgeries. On an average, about 1,400 surgeries are done in one of these camps
