A Kano Senior Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 27-year-old man, Abba Sani, to one year for being in possession of weapons.
Sani, who lives at Hausawa Quarters, Kano, pleaded guilty to a count charge of being in possession of weapons.
The Senior Magistrate, Aminu Fagge, said the sentence would act as a deterrent to others.
The prosecutor, Yusuf Sale, had told the court that Rilwan Abdullahi of the same area reported the case at Hausawa Police Division Kano.
He said a team of vigilance group on patrol arrested the convict on March 2, about 4:20 am.
Sale said the convict could not give a satisfactory account for being in possession of weapons and one Itel phone found in his possession.
