The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, has said the additional 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) by the Ibikunle Amosun administration has enhanced rapid grassroots development.
Ojuko addressed reporters during an assessment tour of councils and LCDAs in Ogun Central Senatorial District.
He noted that the creation of the LCDAs brought government nearer to the people and extended dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
The commissioner said it also contributed to development of the state by fostering communal peace and progress.
Ojuko said: “The creation of the LCDAs has complemented the efforts of the state government. Apart from bringing governance nearer to the masses and enhancing all-round growth and development, it has also helped to increase participation in governance.”
During his inspection of projects, such as the construction of motorised boreholes, grading of access roads, provision of drugs at health centres in Abeokuta, the commissioner hailed the chairmen for embarking on projects impacting on lives of residents.
