Jesus City Foundation, a charity arm of ý Christ Faith Tabernacle International Churches Ogba, has donated a two-tank borehole water facility to residents of Ogere-Remo in Ogun state.
Residents and Ologere of Ogere, Oba OladeleOgunbade, praised the church for the borehole sited at Oja-Ale area of the town.
Founder of Jesus City Founder, Apostle Alfred Williams,ý said the water project was just a foretaste of more to come.
Chairman Remo-Central Local Community Development Area(LCDA), OluwaseyiOdumuyiwa, commended the church for the kind gesture.
He said: “The project has health implications for all and sundry. It is not everywhere you get clean water but the church has made it possible for indigenes of Ogere, especially the people of this community to have unhindered access to clean water which goes a long way to ensuring improved health.”
Ogunbade also expressed appreciation for the project. He said: “Jesus City Foundation has been a blessing to this community. We are grateful.”
A resident, Tayo Shoaga, said the project will go a long way in alleviating the problems of water in the community, saying “What Jesus City has done for us will be appreciated forever.”
But he hoped the project will not be abandoned, a fear Williams allayed.
He assured: “The project will stand test of time and will never be abandoned. This is a special project.
“First of all, we did the geological survey of the land. The geological information made us to understand how deep we should go.
“So for this borehole we have gone so deep to the water table and the evidence of that is that the water is tasteless and it will last.
“We have a generator for the borehole, because of power problem. We have also applied for a solar generator because for sustainability in village like this, our intention is that when we bring in the solar generator which is about 3KVA and it more than enough to power this and also we are going to install solar lights there all these will happen between September and January.
“In the interim, we have supplied them a generator, which we will be fuelling because we our annex just over there to make sure that it is maintained.”
A member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, Pastor Funmi Shofekun, said it plans to add other projects such as free primary and secondary schools, polytechnic, vocational institutions, hospitals, adult education centres, orphanage homes and housing units to its already running agricultural programmes.
Asked how they plan to raise funds for the projects, Williams said aside benevolent donations the church, it is also liaising with British government, international firms as well as engage in different entrepreneurial activities for sustenance.
