Sales attendant ‘steals’ N47m jewellery from her mistress

A 28-year-old woman, Happiness Dennis, was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing gold and silver jewellery valued at N47 million from Mrs Uchenna Obiageli.

Dennis was arraigned before Chief Magistrate O. Sule-Amzat on a two-count charge of stealing.

Prosecuting Inspector Benson Emuerhi said the defendant committed the offence on March 12 while working as a sales attendant at Isaruo Estate, Jose Maria Street, Lekki, Lagos.

The defendant, he said, stole a Rolex wristwatch, a Frank Miller diamond encrusted watch, a gold chain, a gold ball chain, a woven gold earring pendant and bangle set, yellow gold heart shape earring and pendant, yellow gold chain, bangles and earring set with silver stone, gold pendent, gold earrings and pendant set, dangle cut silver, snake bracelet gold, three gold bracelets and two gold rings.

She pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate Sule-Amzat granted her N500,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.

The case continues on July 30.
