FORMER Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole is expected to declare his intention to run for the National Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today.
The party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has not indicated interest to seek for another term in office.
Oshiomhole has reportedly received endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari, APC governors and other prominent members.
A close aide hinted that dignitaries expected at the event scheduled to hold in Abuja are Progressive Governors Forum Chairman and Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, Senate President Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, APC Governors and National Assembly members.
Oshiomhole, in an interview with reporters before he left Benin, said he is joining the chairmanship race with a view to contribute his quota to the growth of the APC.
He said: “It is true that I intend to make my ambition known to our party members and Nigerians. I strongly believe that with the experience I have gathered in my public life, haven served as Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President and Edo State Governor, I have what it takes to take our dear party, the ruling party to the next level.”
The national convention, where Oshiomhole and others will be elected is scheduled for June.
