The police in Enugu State have arrested leader of Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF), Benjamin Onwuka, and 21 members.
A statement by the spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, said they were arrested in Enugu following a tip off.
Onwuka and his group threatened to storm the Government House and declare the Republic of Biafra.
In March 2014, they attempted to seize the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) to declare Biafra republic.
The statement reads: “Onwuka has been standing trial for murder, robbery and unlawful possession of firearms before he resurfaced today and was arrested.
“The suspects are helping with investigations. Meanwhile, there were movement of vehicles, commuters and traders within and outside the metropolis contrary to the early threat and Sit-at-Home order.”
