•Urges Ekiti people to vote Fayemi
An interest group, Ekiti Development Front (EDF), has empowered 200 residents in the first phase of its empowerment programme held in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
EDF also rehabilitated a two kilometer community road, Irekanmi Street, Aba Iya Medi, off Ilawe Road, which residents claimed was allegedly abandoned by the Ayo Fayose administration.
The residents said they had written letters to Ado-Ekiti local government and the state government for assistance without any support.
EDF Convener/Coordinator Mr. Adeoye Aribasoye said the gesture was aimed at giving succor to the residents in the areas of social amenities, education, economic empowerment, political enlightenment and defence of their human rights.
Beneficiaries received cash, sewing machines, dryers, compressors with complete engine for vulcanisers and 6kg washing machines, grinding machines, Generators, Clippers, Cake mixers, Food stuffs – and social interventions like, Day old chicks with feed among others.
In the second phase of the empowerment, which was held behind the Central Mosque in Ikole Ekiti, people were empowered with washing machines, sewing machines, stoning machines for fashion designers, and grinding machines.
Also in Ikole, other beneficiaries received hairdryers, compressors/engines for vulcanizers, filling machines for shoe makers, generators, Day old chicks with feed among others with 24 families getting social intervention of food stuffs.
Aribasoye urged indigent students to obtain EDF Trust Fund intervention forms to assist them in the payment payment of school fees.
He explained that the EDF drew inspiration from the policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, during his first tenure.
Aribasoye urged eligible voters in Ekiti State to vote for Fayemi in the July 14 governorship poll because he ran a government which placed human development on the front burner.
He said: “These are the passion and qualities we saw in Dr. Fayemi which was why we are supporting his ambition because, we have no doubt that if he wins the July 14, 2018 governorship in the state, he will restore he will ensure better life for the people of Ekiti.
“I saw his programs in his first tenure as governor of Ekiti State and I saw a man with passion for development in all ramifications.
“He is a man that sees tomorrow. His programmes for the senior citizens by payment of monthly allowance endeared him to me just like other legacy projects in Ekiti State and I believe he can still do more. His visions are in tandem with EDF vision and objectives.”
A widow, Mrs Cecilia Arije, prayed for the initiator of the program and Dr Fayemi. He said: “For doing this for us the helpless, they will always succeed in whatever is their endeavour”
Mrs. Arije urged people to consider the monthly social security monthly stipends for the aged benefited during the Fayemi’s administration and vote for him to win the July 14, 2018 in the state so that the benefited and better days can be returned.
