ABOUT 100 fish farmers who benefited from the first batch of Anchor Borrower Programme ABP) of the Federal Government have started harvesting their fishes. Speaking during the flag off of the harvest at Glorious Beular Farm, in the Solu area of Ifo, Ogun State, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Adebanjo Adepoju, commended the fish farmers for their commitment towards making the state and Nigeria, fish sufficient, instead of depending on imported fish.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Director of Fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture, Kunle Ajayi, said the state government will complement the programme, which is championed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), through provision of credit facilities and soft loans to farmers and small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SMEs) to grow their businesses.
