The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday held a rally for former Director General of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES), Mr. Sina Awelewa. At the event, the Director General was officially welcomed into the APC.
Awelewa, at the reception held for him in Ward 2 in Ilawe-Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti Southwest Local Government, also donated cash, food and other items to residents to galvanize support for party’s candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
He was the former Director General of the Campaign Organisation of the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), governorship candidate, Senator Bode Olowoporoku.
At the reception organised for him at Ilawe Ward 2, Awelewa said the unbeaten records of achievements of the APC standard bearer, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in his first tenure as governor of Ekiti actually hastened his return to the party.
The journalist-turned lawyer noted that Fayemi paraded the best credentials among the contenders to the exalted seat and he predicted that the APC candidate will coast home to victory on July 14.
He was received by the chairman of Ward Two, Mr Augustine Akingbade, who described Awelewa as a party leader who is always prepared to spend his personal resources to lift the party and its members.
Akingbade noted that Awelewa had empowered hundreds of indigent people in Ekiti, through his Foundation christened Sina Awelewa Foundation,, ever before he joined partisan politics.
Awelewa had organised meetings with his supporters in Ado-Ekiti Local Government at the weekend where he distributed gifts items and cash.
He visited Ward 9 and 10 in Ado-Ekiti and Ebira Community.
