18-year-old arraigned for alleged theft

An 18-year-old man, Amos Segun, who allegedly stole iron rods, has been arraigned at an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court.

He is facing a two-count charge of theft and conspiracy.

Prosecutor Musilimi Jafani told the court the accused committed the offence on July 12, about 6 am, behind Ebenezer Hotel, Osogbo.

He said the accused conspired with others at large to steal the rods belonging to Kunle Ibowoye.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11, Laws of Osun State, 2003.

The accused, who has no legal representation, pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Mr. Olugbenga Oladoke granted the accused bail at N10, 000 and a surety.

He said the surety must live within the court’s jurisdiction, and show evidence of tax payment as part of the bail conditions.  Oladoke adjourned the case till August 17 for mention.
