A petrol station manager, Oluwagbemiga Idris Ajobi, who allegedly stole N10 million belonging to his employer Almoruf Service Station, was on Wednesday brought before an Igbosere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Ajobi, 27, was arraigned on four –count charge of conspiracy, forgery, stealing and fraud by the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID) Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos.
Prosecuting counsel, Morufu Animashaun, alleged that Ajobi and unnamed accomplices, on or before June 8, 2013, at Almoruf Service Station, Orelope-Egbeda branch, conspired and forged the director’s signature and stole N10m from the company’s account.
The court heard that the money was stolen through payment vouchers.
The defendant was arrested after his employer petitioned the police.
The offences, Animashaun, said contravened sections 409, 331(7), 363(3) and 285(8) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011 and punishable under same.
Ajobi pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defendant’s counsel, Ayo Adebiyi, applied for his bail “on the most liberal terms, because he was a first time offender and the allegations against him are bailable.”
Animashaun did not oppose the bail application, but prayed the court to admit Ajobi on terms that would ensure his presence in court.
Chief Magistrate O. O. Oshin granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She remanded the defendant in prison pending the fulfilment of the bail terms and adjourned the case till October 22.
