The Department of Pure and Applied Zoology, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has rewarded students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in each level of the department.
The awardees were Toyin Solomon, a 300-Level student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.57; Rashidat Azeez, 200 Level, with CGPA of 4.16; and Oreoluwa Omogbein, 100-Level, with CGPA of 4.74.
Head of department, Prof Olufemi Sam-Wobo, said he decided to revive the award as it was done years ago to recognise hard work among the students. He promised to continue the tradition.
Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Dr Linda Onwuka, thanked the department for bringing back some of the good old values that had been lost in the university.
She congratulated the winners on their hard work, warning others not to make money through dubious means that could not last.
“Hard work doesn’t kill, but makes you better,” she said.
Also, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof Morenike Dipeolu, represented by Prof Adetoun Amubode, congratulated the awardees, and urged others to step up.
She tasked the students to be determined and disciplined, while applauding the department for the initiative.
