Ondo warns on fake Akeredolu’s Facebook account

THE Ondo State government yesterday warned residents to be wary of a fake Facebook account opened in the name of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) to swindle unwary people.

The government raised the alarm over activities of fraudsters on social media platforms asking youths to pay a certain amount of money to secure forms for a Canada lottery.

A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Segun Ajiboye, said the fake account was used to ask interested youths to secure forms on the payment of a fee.

It was learnt that the fraudulent post was shared by Ada Okoye, who also made the same fraudulent request.

The governor’s aide urged the public to disregard such requests.

He noted that the fraudsters used the picture and the name of the governor.

“While we are investigating the perpetrator of this fraudulent act, and we are calling on unsuspecting public to note that all government’s programmes are advertised on broadcast stations in the state as well as the Ondo State Potter. We warn the public against doing any business with the fraudsters,” the statement said.
