The Bus Conductors Association (BCAN) of the Buhari Campaign Organisation of Nigeria (BCO) has said it will facilitate a special training and empowerment programme for bus conductors in Lagos.
The programme will include skill acquisition and funds to kick-start the applicants’ businesses.
BCO national coordinator Alhaji Danladi Pasali and BCAN national liaison Officer, Prince Israel Adeshola, stated this at Surulere on Friday at the inauguration of the group’s Lagos State local government liaison officers and executives.
The group said the first beneficiaries of the programme, which was approved last Thursday, will be the 20 liaison officers and executives, followed by 1000 women and youths.
Pasali said: “We have secured a special training programme for empowerment and it will start with these 20 local government liaison officers.
“From every local government in Lagos, in not later than two weeks, we want the names of 500 women and 500 youths that will be officially trained and empowered.
“If you’re already trained, we need your list for empowerment. But if you’re already trained, we will train and empower you.”
Adeshola, who inaugurated BCO’s Kwara State Laison Officer last month, stated that over 1000 affiliate bodies had joined the BCO since June.
He said: “I will not conclude without letting you know that the BCAN of BCO is a fast moving train. Just two weeks ago, we inaugurated Kwara State. Today we are inaugurating Lagos State Local Government Liaison Officers and their executives. The moving train is not stopping here. In the next few weeks, we shall be inaugurating the following states: Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Delta, and Kogi State. Other states follow immediately after.”
He urged the liaison officers to be loyal to their executive members, to Nigeria and to work for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
