A 26-year old driver and a 24-year old female undergraduate student on Tuesday died in a fatal accident in Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra State.
The accident which occurred near Ozubulu Boys Secondary School, along Owerri/Onitsha expressway, involved a white Toyota Venza Car with registration number KSF 881FD.
An eye witness said the driver of the vehicle was carrying the woman, said to be a student of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State in the front seat when the incident happened.
He said the driver was on top speed when he suddenly lost control and rammed into a stationary trailer with registration number XF 383 AWK from the rear.
According to the witness, both of them died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, the state Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, gave the names of the deceased as Emetor Ikenna God’s power and Uwakwe Jenifer.

He said the casualties were rushed to Oraifite General hospital by the Police patrol team attached to Ozubulu Division, where they were certified dead on arrival.
Mohammed further disclosed that the corpses have been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy, adding that the case was being investigated to ascertain the actual cause of accident.
“The Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar enjoins members of the public, particularly road users to refrain from reckless driving and apply caution especially during these ember months in order not to fall victims of road accidents,” he added.
