The Unique Centre for Peace Building and Trauma Healing (UCPT), has organised training for community leaders from Iregwe land in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau.
The training was in collaboration with King Abdulah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID).
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Iregwe communities were recently attacked by hoodlums that led to death of scores of people.
Mr Mugu Zaka, Founder and Executive Director of UCPT, said on Thursday that the training aimed at finding lasting solutions to the crisis in the area.
According to him, the exercise also aimed at uniting and reconciling warring communities using peace lens and building spirit of team work and social cohesion.

“It is no longer news that no society can develop without peace and tranquility; and if we really need peace, we must dialogue.
“So, we are here to dialogue and teach these leaders ways of uniting and reconciling warring communities in their domain, using peace lens.
“We want to also teach them the need to respect each other’s value and beliefs, and to also encourage them to build the spirit of team work and social cohesion.
“Generally, the training is geared towards achieving lasting peace among communities in the area,” he said.
Zaka added that the training would also equip the participants with ways of holistically dealing with conflicts and to enable them develop trust among themselves.
