Police arrest ex-convict in Ogun for stealing car

An ex-convict, Ayomide Ifabode, has been arrested by operatives  of Ogun State Police Command for stealing a Nissan Almera car, marked AAB 87 TF.

Ifabode was arrested on Monday at Ototo village on Kobape road, Abeokuta.

He stole the car from where the owner parked it at Ijeuntitun in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The suspect allegedly stole the car shortly after he got out of prison.

Vehicle owner Okeowo Ahmed earlier reported at the Ibara Divisional Police Headquarters that his vehicle was removed from the park by an unknown person.

Acting on the information, Divisional Police Officer at  Ibara, Dada Oluwasegun, detailed his detectives to recover the car and bring the perpetrator to justice.

Police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, said detectives got a hint the vehicle was sighted at Ototo, stormed the place and arrested  the suspect.

The car was recovered.

Oyeyemi, a deputy superintendent of Police, added that the suspect admitted removing the car from where it was parked using a master key.

“The suspect also confessed of just coming out of prison where he did time after being convicted of a similar crime. The master key was recovered from him.

“Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu directed that the suspect be transfered to FSARS for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
