Lagos lawyer Ayo Kusamotu has predicted a tough contest in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
In a statement, Kusamotu said the defections across parties are indications of the close contest.
He said: “I expect the election to be very keenly contested. All the candidates must be putting finishing touches to their plans and strategies.
“As for vote-buying, it is unhealthy but unfortunately we are practicing commercial democracy. We have a long way to go and I hope that the system will evolve over time. It is due to demands of the electorate.
“Poverty plays a big role in this situation. It is when we find ourselves in government and we enrich Nigerians and give them back their dignity that vote buying will fade away.”
He expressed sympathy for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, who he described as “equipped and prepared for the job”.
