Ota Diamond Lions Club, under the District 404B1 Nigeria Association of Lions Clubs International, has pledged continuous support for primary health care workers and their patients by providing facilities that will improve their welfare.
Its President, Lion Opeyemi Omotayo Akinnola, made the pledge when he led the club members to visit School 3 Primary Health Centre and Local Government Primary Health Centre, all in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Many bags of Lions Club water sachets and other consumables were donated.
Presenting the donations, the President said the gesture was in accordance with the district’s yearly rendering of humanitarian services to communities which is the major focus of Lions Club worldwide.
He added that it would complement the efforts of government to make life better for health workers, patients and community in general.
The club had also organised skills acquisition programme where no fewer than 200 youths were trained in different fields.
It organised a campaign against child cancer which is becoming another global threat. Dr Olakunle Akanji, the speaker of the day during the campaign, talked about the symptoms and treatment of the problem.
Lion Akinnola said: ”The club decided to engage in all these projects to make life better. The donation of sachet water, in particular, is to promote access to potable water. Water is important to all.
“We will continue to render humanitarian services that would make life better for people by embarking on meaningful projects and donating relief materials”.
