Group offers student’s scholarship on digital thinking

A non-governmental organisationthe Science Ambassadors Foundation (SAF Africa), with  support from Revocube and IBM Digital-Nation Africa has concluded plans to offer Nigeria students a six week scholarship training on digital thinking.

The Executive Director, SAF Africa, Peace Nnabugwu announced this at a press conference organized recently at the University of Lagos.

She said the scholarship aim is  encouraging students and undergraduates of all disciplines to use scientific method in providing social solutions to problems in their immediate environment.

“he project is being funded by International Student Identity Card ISIC Nigeria, a global organization with presence in over 64 countries in the world. The scholarship project will involve training students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria on how to identify community problems and proffer corresponding solutions using ‘Design Thinking’ a training platform that would be provided by Digital-Nation Africa, a subsidiary of IBM after which they will identify problems and proffer solutions to” she said..

“students are expected to submit their prototypes to facilitators for review and all solutions that scales through the review will be giving a go to call for support friends, family and the general public as a way to encourage an all-inclusive societal participation in the project while others will repeat the process”.

“At the end of the exercise, all prototypes are expected to be deployed provided participants are tenacious to birth their ideas. The voters choice prototypes will be announced at an event to be held in Lagos and winners will be given scholarships to the tune of N750,00, N500,000, and N250,000 in first, second and third positions respectively”.
