Assembly candidate dies in car crash

The candidate of the Obanliku state constituency of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Cross River State House of Assembly Chief Godwin Takus at the weekend died in a car crash in Benue state.

Takus, barely 24 hours before the incident, emerged candidate of the party after the house of assembly primary elections.

He was on his way to Abuja from Cross River as a delegate for the APC’s endorsement of the candidacy of President Muhammadu Buhari at the special national convention of the party when the incident occurred, it was gathered.

Takus, died alongside another delegate, ParaboloAshiple.

State Chairman Chief Mathew Achigbe said: “It is painful and saddening to lose progressives like Takus and Parabola in such gruesome manner especially in active service to the party.”
