HILTON at the weekend launched its first Africa’s Curio Collection Legend Hotel at the Murtala Muhammed International Aiport, Lagos.
Described as a ’10 step to aircraft’ initiative, the hotel which has an exclusive tarmac for private aircrafts, became Hilton’s 500th hotel to open across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)and located adjacent the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The hotel, with an exclusive immigrations and customs desk for private jet passengers, is also approximately five kilometres from the domestic terminal and one kilometre from the international terminal.
It boasts 54 spacious guest rooms and suites, unique culinary experiences at De Bull restaurant and bar and Sky Lounge, and extensive business and leisure facilities.
The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika; Chief executive officer of Hilton Chris Nassetta and Director, Quits Hospitality Limited, Sam Iwuajoku, as well as business mogul Aliko Dangote witnessed the opening ceremony.
Sirika said plans were on by the federal government to spend huge sum of money in improving infrastructure at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
“I will like to say that within few months, in the first quarter of next year, A380 aircraft would be landing in Nigeria. We have facilities to receive such an airplane.
“Before the end of October, we would be opening the terminal in Port Harcourt which is ready even to the apron operations.
“We will also be opening the terminal in Abuja. They would be ready for operations,” he stated.
The hotel joins the exclusive Curio Collection by Hilton, a collection of more than 60 one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts celebrated for their individuality and appeal to travelers seeking local and authentic experiences.
