Mrs. Caroline Nwanyioye Okpalakunne, (nee Onyemelukwe), the mother of a Director in the Lagos Ministry of Education, Gilbert Okpalakunne, is dead.
She died on August 1 after an illness.
The late Mrs Okpalakunne was 87.
Her burial comes up on October 19 at her home town of Umudim, Umueze, Uga in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A statement by her eldest son, Mr. Appolos Okpala, said there was a Christian wake yesterday at her compound at 6 p.m.
It added that her body will leave the mortuary at 7 a.m today for lying-in-state at her home.
This, the statement said, will be followed by a burial service and internment at Okpalakunne’s compound in Umueze, Umuibeka Uga.
Also, there will be an outing church service on October 21 at St. James Anglican Church, Uga.
The late Mrs Okpalakunne is survived by four children and many grandchildren, including Gilbert Okpalakunne.
Her children described her as a pious Christian, a humanitarian and an industrious woman.
