Oyo-Ogbomosho road getting fixed

Repair has begun on failed sections of Oyo-Ogbomosho road barely a few days after the town hall meeting on infrastructure initiated by the Federal Government.

Stakeholders at the meeting called on the government to repair bad portions of the road.

Federal Controller of Works in Oyo State Mr. Omotayo Awosanya said Minister of Works, Power and Housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola had ordered repairs pending completion of the dualisation of the 56-km Oyo-Ogbomosho new road.

”As you can see, Reynold Construction Company (RCC) handling the new road is on ground with its equipment, effecting repairs under our supervision to make sure the repair works end soon and smooth vehicular movement resume.

”We are assuring motorists and commuters plying this road that the gridlock being experienced on the road will become history soon, as the government is determined to make all roads motorable,” he said.

On the Oyo-Ogbomosho new road, the controller said work was 56 per cent complete, adding that the project, awarded in 2010, was not given attention by previous administration.

He said construction began on the road immediately the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration came into power and mobilised the contractor.

Awosanya hoped that the new road would be completed soon and urged motorists plying the road to be patient.

Spokesman for RCC Mr Amir Netzor told reporters that the repair work would be completed in the next few days, saying RCC had been involved in repairs on the road.

He said the company would ensure early completion of the new road, and hailed the Federal Government for responding to the needs of the company as regards the new road.

Truck drivers, who spoke with reporters, hailed the repairs and urged the Federal Government to ensure that the contractor handling the new road expedited action.
