Senator Yele Omogunwa (Ondo South) Wednesday alleged that there is a plot to sponsor a protest against his nomination to run for second term.
The APC senator in a statement accused a former senatorial aspirant (Name withheld) of perfecting “plans to organise unsuspecting members of the public to protest against the decision of the party’s National Working Committee on my choice as candidate.”
The statement added: “While I agree that it is the right of the people to carry out peaceful protests, this which is coming on the heels of the NWC decision that I be allowed to fly the flag of the APC appears preposterous. Not only does it amount to anti-party, it is a clear indication that those whose personal interests have been placed far above the party interest have deployed untoward .means to hijack the party.
“As far as I am concerned, the planned sponsored protest coming amid my concerted effort to reconcile all cleavages within the party in the district is highly regrettable and unconscionably misdirected and mischievous in all ramifications.
“I use this medium to call on the general public, especially the people of the six local government areas to disregard the move aimed at taking the hand of the clock backwards.”
