The police yesterday arrested a woman for alleged child abuse. The woman, Mrs. Mabel, was alleged to have maltreated her housemaid several times.
She was alleged to be fond of locking her 14-year-old housemaid in the toilet anytime she was going out.
A good Samaritan reported to the police and the woman was arrested on November 4 by the DPO of Ipaja Division, Baruwa Estate. The door was forced opened and the victim was rescued.
Mrs. Mabel said: “She has been with me for six months. I have never done this before; it was because she played a prank on me. I promised to punish her for it. I did it out of anger.”
The girl alleged that the woman maltreated her.
There are wounds on her body.
The police said the suspect would soon be arraigned.
The command has begun investigation into a case of alleged defilement involving Mr. Lukman Haruna, who hails from Niger Republic.
He was alleged to have defiled a 10-year-old girl by inserting his fingers into her private part.
The Nation learnt that a good Samaritan, Mrs. Abali, who noticed blood stains around the girl’s private part, reported to the police.
A source said the suspect would be arraigned after investigation.
