Reigning Africa Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala has dedicated her hat-trick goals against Equatorial Guinea to her godmother, the First Lady of Lagos State, Bolanle Ambode.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons Saturday evening booked their place in the semifinals of the 2018 CAF Africa Women’s Cup of Nations with an emphatic 6-0 win over Equatorial Guinea at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Francisca Ordega, Desire Oparanozie and Rita Chikwelu were also among the goal scorers as Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea had to endure a miserable evening against the high-flying Super Falcons.
“I am super excited about my goals, and I want to dedicate the goals to the First Lady of Lagos state Mrs Bolanle Ambode for her role in the development of female football in Lagos and Nigeria at large. The goals is for her.
“With her support and with fans’ prayer and hardwork also, why not, we can win the tourney. It was difficult not scoring in the first and second game, thank God I am back to my scoring form and ready for the semi finals,” Oshoala said.
The Falcons will confront Group A leaders Cameroon in a crucial semifinals clash on Tuesday with not just a place in the final to fight for but a ticket to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
