‘Use musical gifts for Kingdom advancement’

A music Legend and former Music Director of the Apostolic Faith Church, West and Central Africa Headquarters Reverend John Aina has appealed to gospel musicians to use their talents for the advancement of the gospel.

Aina said this at the public presentation of his biography Reverend John Aina @ 80 in 90 Minutes of Soul Inspiring Music across genre at the University of Lagos.

Church leaders, concert enthusiasts and gospel music leader, many of them his proteges across Nigeria attended the event which featured The Mountain Top orchestral and mass choir of The Apostolic Faith Church, among others.

The book God’s Inspired Ambassador In His Palace of Praise – Echoes of Life … Echoes of Music” was written by President of Centre for the Empowerment of the Disabled, Prince Tony Ademuyiwa, Renowned Creative Writer, Sanmu Ajiki and former Director of Public Relation, Yaba College of Technology, Dr. Charles Oni.

Aina said gospel artistes must give up themselves for God’s use for the task of winning souls for Jesus as His return is sooner than imagined.

Aina, who led the choir of the Apostolic Faith in Africa for decades, said: “God taught me music because I was willing to learn and give up myself for the sake of the gospel of Jesus.

“God who rewards faithfulness rewarded me as I got the letter of my first job while playing piano in the church.”

Aina pointed out music will excite heaven and bring down God’s glory when ministers recognise the place of God “in our ministry and do all we can to reach out to the souls of men through our songs.”

He lamented some denominations major on dance music, noting classical music should be given priority in the churches.

On his next moves, Aina said: “My major goal now is to make heaven. I have no other mountain to climb but to see Jesus and grace for the last test is what l yearn for”.
