Two persons die in Ondo auto crash

Two persons have died in an auto crash on New Year eve at Ajowa in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Three others were injured.

The accident involved a J5 bus heading to the North and laden with kolanuts and palm oil.

According to the Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) at the Ikare-Akoko Unit, Jimoh Basiru, the accident occurred around midnight near a military check point in the town.

Sources said the soldier on duty quickly invited his colleagues to rescue the accident victims.

Basiru said his men rescued the victims and conveyed them to the State Specialist Hospital at Ikare-Akoko.

The FRSC commandant attributed the accident to recklessness and night journey, which he said the Corps-Marshall Boboye Oyeyemi had always advised against.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) at the State Specialist Hospital in Ikare-Akoko, Dr Wale Oguntuase, confirmed that two persons were brought dead and were deposited in the mortuary.

He added that three others were receiving treatment at the emergency ward of the hospital.
