Three teenagers face robbery charge

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has remanded three teenagers who allegedly used cutlasses and knives to rob two men of money, phones, wristwatch and an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.

Magistrate M. I. Dan-Oni ordered that Emmanuel Sylvester, 18, Faruk Sanusi, 19, and Kamorudeen Sodiq, 19, be kept at the Kirikiri Prisons with 20-year-old Adeyemi Olalekan.

The accused are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

Dan-Oni did not take their plea. She said she would await the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) before doing so.

She ordered them remanded until then.

Prosecuting Inspector Victor Eruada alleged that the accused committed the offence last November 8 at Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.

He alleged that the accused robbed Shamusideen Mustapha and Ayo Obasun.

The prosecutor said the accused robbed Mustapha of N30,000, a Samsung Galaxy phone worth N17,000, an ATM card and a wristwatch.

He alleged that the accused snatched two phones worth N12, 500 from Obasun.

“The complainants were returning from work when the accused threatened them with cutlasses and knives and dispossessed them of the valuables,” Eruada said.

The case continues on January 14.
