The father of a female police officer, Mrs. Yemisi Makinde, who was killed by robbers during the April 5, 2018 Offa robbery, has died.
The Nation learnt that the man, Pa Oyeyemi, died in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, last weekend.
The late Oyeyemi, a retired inspector, hailed from Agbonda in Irepodun Local Government.
He reportedly became ill after the death of his daughter.
The late Mrs. Makinde was one of the nine police officers gunned down by robbers during the incident.
About 33 residents of the town, including police officers, were killed during the robbery.
It was gathered that the late Mr. Oyeyemi, who had been in agony since the death of his daughter, died at his Ilorin home exactly nine months after his daughter was killed.
A relation of the deceased said he developed high blood pressure due to the shock caused by his daughter’s death.
The Nation learnt that the drugs he had been using to manage the ailment failed to achieve the desired change, a development that complicated his illness at the weekend and claimed his life.
A source said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Complex (UITHC) in Ilorin.
