Chairman of Agege Local Government Ganiyu Egunjobi has donated educational materials, such as, uniforms, bags, and exercise books to 26 public schools. He also donated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to indigent students of the councils.
Egunjobi said the gesture was one of the many plans lined up to make learning easy for pupils whose parent or guardians cannot provide the basic needs for learning, making it a challenge for teachers.
He said: “Let me thanks the moulders (teachers), the foundation (parents), and leaders for their unalloyed support and contribution towards the upbringing of our children.
“Let me use this opportunity to recount the council’s interventions in education – we built a lock of six classrooms with modern toilets in Salvation Army Primary School; renovation of a store building block of 12 classrooms at Iloro Primary, a Security House at State Primary School and toilets.”
Other schools which benefited in renovations include Oduduwa Primary School (a block of six classrooms, reconstruction of collapsed fence and provision of desk and chairs).
“On one part, this is aimed at fulfilling the statutory function of the local government as it relates to education. It is also to meet the educational needs of our pupils and students. The bags and wears which were presented to these pupils today were made by students of our Vocational Training Units,” Egunjobi added.
