The national leadership of Osogbo Progressive  Union (OPU), led by Ambassador Rasaki Siyanbola has endorsed the Oramiyan New Town also known as New GRA located in the precinct of the seat of the government, State of Osun, Osogbo.

The endorsement was made known when the management  of Osun New Towns and Growth  Areas Development  Authority under the leadership of Arch. Muyiwa Ige with the Development  partner, Akeeb Investment Limited, led leadership  of OPU  on the spot  assessment  of the ongoing infrastructural development work at the site of the  New GRA.

Ambassador Siyanbola and other Osogbo elders who went round the site, were impressed with the progress made so far and therefore called for support for the project.

Speaking on behalf of others elders, Siyanbola said he was ready to stake his credibility for the project.

The elders who were not oblivious of the problems those in the Diaspora face as regards building houses and estate said with  what was on ground at the Oranmiyan New Towns, there was nothing to be afraid of.

Though the ground breaking of Oranmiyan New Town was done in 2014 by the government of Aregbesola and the project being solely managed by the , Osun New Towns and Growth Areas Development Authority but little could be done until Akbeeb Investment Limited, a private developer who took it upon itself to provide needed facilities.

The Oranmiyan New Town is designed for over 3, 000 residential plots, with the smallest plot being 1, 000 square metres in size. It is expected to cater for an estimated population of over a 100,000 people. Under its proposed development plan, the town will boast of a botanical garden; commercial strips of plots along the major roads; serviced plots; a Downtown/Central Business District (CBD) with varying land uses for religious, educational, commercial and parking purposes.

“Interestingly, a three “Arms Zone” has been created to accommodate the House of Assembly (legislature); proposed High Court and Judiciary Quarters (Judiciary) and the Governor’s Office (Executive), in addition to the proposed new government house. Also, the streetscape boasts of sidewalks and bicycle paths on all major roads with proper landscaping. Recreational features are not limited to parks and gardens. Adequate provision has been made to accommodate a Lawn Tennis Club, Squash Club, 18-Hole-Golf Course and a Polo Ground,” the management of the new town said.
