It’s a rainy day and for Barbara, things appear to be falling apart. Love and life have been really hectic and at a point she just cannot think clearly anymore. It is worse because there is no one to talk to. She felt so sad and uncomfortable because there was no one to share her pains with. Perhaps, they have come to the end of the road? Should she wait a little longer or walk away from this sinking emotional ship?
Confusion galore! She decided to bury herself in her work but the odds are also many here. She works in a firm that is highly competitive; there is a lot of intrigues going on within and outside. Frustrated, she began to think of what to do and how to get fresh direction.
At a point, she took a look down memory lane to assess what went wrong in the relationship. “The more I looked out for the reason why Bode changed suddenly, the more I realised that I have always been on the receiving end of this relationship. He always had his way and because I loved him so much, I did not see anything wrong with this. Each time I had a different opinion, he got really angry and at a point he began to force me into doing the things that I won’t do ordinarily.”
Now, she is so devastated and has come to the realisation that if she doesn’t take make up her mind to move on, things would get worse. But deep down in her heart she really loved Bode. “Every day I kept on praying for things to get back to normal again. Always wished we could talk things over and have amicable resolutions.” But, unfortunately, the man she loves so much has closed all the doors of his heart and the things he used to love and admire no longer count. This love nest sadly is frozen and things unfortunately have fallen apart.
Thinking straight has become almost impossible. A broken heart is a heart in turmoil. Just while all this was going on in her mind, she set out early for the house. The traffic was really bad and to make matters worse, the car broke down.
“I have never been this confused in my entire life. Almost everything kept going bad and at a point, I kept wondering if I was ever going to survive the odds. Worse still was the fact that I was stranded in the rain. I tried everything but the car just refused to get back on the road.”
It was in that crisis that her emotional angel appeared. “He came from the blues and I was startled when he tapped me. This looks like a really difficult situation; I think it is getting dark. It is better to lock up and come back for it in the morning,” he advised.
He was really right; the location was not a good place to be at that point. Dele introduced himself to me and volunteered to take me home. These days, you cannot trust a stranger from the blues. Unfortunately, for our friend, she was already very tired and this certainly wasn’t a time to listen to any instinct.
“That decision was one of the best decisions I took in my entire life. Dele was a great gift and he transformed my life in many ways. When we got to my place that first night, we stayed in the car for over an hour. We talked and talked, it was as if we had known ourselves for ages. For the first time, I was able to pour my heart out and I got relieved. He also told me about himself and I discovered that his heart had been battered a number of times too.”
That turned out to be a new beginning for the two of them. She found a compassionate heart and he healed all her wounds. “I didn’t know I could find someone better than Bode at all. Dele was such a great personality to be with. He took away my tears and brought me laughter. He was very open and he gave me the opportunity to express myself. He even made me rediscover myself in different ways; my friends were amazed at the transformation that happened to me in such a short while. “It was very interesting because I found a heart that connected so easily with me. Life simply got better and everyone around me was happy for me. It was obvious that my days of emotional frustrations were over.”
Along the line, the impossible also happened. “To my amazement, Bode came back begging me to take him back. His explanation was that a girl in his office trapped him at that point and that he realised he made a mistake.
“Take him back? That was an impossible mission. I think God wanted me to see the two sides of the emotional coin. It opened my eyes to the lapses in our relationship and it was obvious that we couldn’t go far together. I told him that I had forgiven him but found someone else.”
