The Wife of the President of Agape Christain Ministries International, Rev. Funke-Felix Adejumo has dismissed the insinuation that the church has failed Nigeria saying that Nigeria would have been stinking if not for the sound teaching of Jesus and his principles for living, being taught in many churches.
Adejumo said this in an interview with journalists last week at the Banquet and Grand launch of CEDARS House of Grace at the Grand Atrium, Lekki Expressway, Lagos. The event attracted Christian faithfuls from different parts of the country.
She said that the notion that the church has failed is erroneous. The church has not failed at all. If not for the church, the nation would have been in a far worse condition of degeneration than it is currently.
Adejumo, while speaking further, said “do you know how many harlots would be on the streets if not for the church? Do you know how many armed robbers will be out there or people begging for bread if not for the church? Government may fail but the church cannot fail. The church remains a pivotal agency of intervention and preservation from further societal decadence.
We are doing so much and by GOD’s Grace, we will continue to do more.
She lauded the launch of Cedars House of Grace and said that: “another church is born. The church is marching on and the gates of hell cannot prevail. Only God knows the people that will be raised here today, that will be in quarters that matter in calling, politics, career, businesses and more.”
She said notedly that “I so much believe in the grace upon the lives of Rev. Niyi Eboda and his wife, Pastor Adeola Eboda. These are born leaders, who are in ministry just to touch lives. I rejoice with them and congratulate them and I know the best is yet is come.”
Earlier, the Senior Pastor of the church, Rev. Niyi Eboda, who was full of gratitude for the launching of the church said that “Our mandate is to raise a people of distinction, living off a life that is unending – the very life of God Himself”.
Eboda said the church is supposed to raise people who understand the importance of being value adding citizens. “We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are meant to solve problems not add to them”.
He cited the scriptures in the Book of Obadiah verse 21, saying that “we are called saviours, hence, our job as believers and Christians is to bring emancipation. Rather than just curse the darkness, We are supposed to turn on the light.”
Addressing the issue of the fast approaching general election, Eboda said “The church is supposed to raise people who are going to assume responsibility for the rebirth of our nation. Governance is a collective mandate and should not be seen as the sole responsibility of those being elected into offices.
Continuing further, he said “Everybody is a part of the process of governance. I also believe that not only must we raise people who are value adding citizens, but also people who understand the importance of exercising their franchise in times like this. We should not fold our arms and keep complaining of things in the country. We are supposed to get actively involved and play our part”.
